Well, I'm kinda sad because I think I know what most of the reasons are, but I'm glad because I have someplace new to visit on Fridays. Things are changing all around though, aren't they?

yeah, the problem is that we don't really know what any of these people are like. The Edge comes off as being a sort of regular guy, you know?

i know what you mean about Jack. tough to know if he really has that kind of attitude in person. loved the scene with the luthier cutting the hole in the back of the guitar (though it made me cringe) to make way for the mic retractor.

I just saw this a couple of nights ago myself. I enjoyed it in general (and I agree with you that the "Rumble" scene was one of the best ones -- also one of the few moments where Page reveals himself emotionally).

Of the three, Page is clearly the best musician, but I respect Edge for making the most of his limitations and White for his passion. White was a little over the top with attitude for my taste, but that was probably one of the reasons he was selected as the token youngling . I thought the individual threads were much more compelling tan the group scenes, but there were good moments there as well. I was happy to learn what tuning Page uses for Kashmir (DADGAD), so now it sounds right when I try to play it!

I did have a strong reaction to one aspect of the movie: the irony of three very successful white men, two of whom (Page and White) owe their entire musical legacy to generations of black musicians who struggled all or most of their lives. At least White was pretty good about acknowledging his debt.

They're down to earth because rock stars don't come from Canada. When you couple that with the fact that they started out as a prog rock band, they were already somewhat respectable. Of course, Mr. Lifeson got in a little scrape with a local lawman awhile back, but it was in Florida, so it doesn't count.

Brothers is my Album of the Year to date and a far superior album to their last effort, Attack and Release, which still gets a lot of love on my stereo. The Black Keys (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Keys" rel="nofollow">wikipedia link</a>) are one of the Top Five touring bands in the United States right now. I recommend you also check out small label release: The Big Come Up - their debut which is every part as good as Brothers.

If this is selling out, I am completely sold.
